Fuel System, Other › Delivery › Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings — Mitsubishi Fuso · reported 23 Nov 2012 · 13,644 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America (MFTA) is recalling certain model year 2005-2007 FE83D, FE84D, FE85D, and FG84D trucks; manufactured from May 27, 2004, through May 14, 2007. The fuel pipes may crack due to an improper manufacturing process. Additionally, the fuel pipe flare nuts may have been insufficiently tightened.

The risk

Cracked fuel pipes or loose fuel pipe flare nuts may leak fuel. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a vehicle fire.

The fix

MFTA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the fuel pipes and tighten or replace them as needed, free of charge. The safety recall began on January 21, 2013. Owners may contact MFTA at 1-856-467-4500.

MFTA's recall campaign number is C1006110.Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Vehicle Safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
