Recall 12V587000
Steering — Taylor-dunn · reported 14 Dec 2012 · 15 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Taylor-Dunn is recalling certain model year 2011 Trident low speed vehicles manufactured from February 2011 through June 2011. The steering wheel shaft may be insufficiently welded to the U-joint.
The risk
If the weld fails, steering control may be lost while driving, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
The fix
Taylor-Dunn will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering shafts, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in January 2013. Owners may contact Taylor-Dunn at 1-714-956-4040.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
