Recall 13V009000

Equipment — Eldorado · reported 14 Jan 2013 · 21 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Eldorado National is recalling certain model year 2012 Aerotech 240 buses manufactured May 2012, through October 2012. The affected buses are equipped with a Ricon manufactured wheelchair lift which has an optional armored pendant cable. The cable may have been installed such that it doesn't clear the wheelchair lift and without a protective cover, or a misinstalled protective cover.

The risk

The cable may contact the power lug at the base of the wheel chair lift causing a short circuit that could result in a fire.

The fix

Eldorado National is working with Ricon to notify owners. Ricon will provide a supplemental cover kit with instructions, free of charge. Owners may contact Eldorado National at 1-785-827-1033 or Ricon at 1-818-267-3000.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
