Recall 13V019000 · manufacturer campaign 13502
Electrical System — Ic Bus · reported 17 Jan 2013 · 1,276 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Navistar is recalling certain model year 2013 IC brand CE buses, and 2012-2013 RE buses; manufactured from December 7, 2010, through June 26, 2012 and equipped with model year 2011 through 2013 I-6 engines and feature codes 12NUK, 12NUL, 12NUM, 12NUN, 12NUP and 12NUS. The injection pressure regulator (IPR) harness wire may break due to vibrational damage. This could cause an unexpected shut down of the engine.
The risk
An unexpected engine shut down while driving may increase the risk of a vehicle crash.
The fix
Navistar will notify owners, and dealers will replace the IPR wire connector, free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin by March 18, 2013. Owners may contact Navistar at 1-800-448-7825.
Navistar's recall campaign number is 13502.Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
