Recall 13V073000 · manufacturer campaign FL-640
Fuel System, Gasoline › Storage › Tank Assembly — Freightliner · reported 4 Mar 2013 · 3,207 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) is recalling certain model year 2011-2014 MT45G and MT55G van chassis manufactured from February 15, 2010, through September 3, 2013. These vehicles have gasoline fuel tanks that may experience cracks in the welds and tank material.
The risk
Cracks in the fuel tanks could lead to a leakage of gasoline and vapors. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may lead to a vehicle fire.
The fix
DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will replace any of the affected fuel tanks free of charge. The recall began on December 16, 2013. Owners may contact DTNA at 1-800-447-4986.
DTNA's recall campaign number is FL-640.Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
