Recall 13V101000 · manufacturer campaign 13504
Wheels — International · reported 20 Mar 2013 · 1,646 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Navistar is recalling certain model year 2013 International ProStar commercial trucks, manufactured from January 24, 2012, through January 2, 2013, with feature codes 29AEB and 29AEC (Preset Plus hubs). The axle bearing retaining nut lock snap ring may have not been installed or may have been installed incorrectly which may result in the retainer nut working loose and possibly separating the wheel hub from the axle.
The risk
Separation of a wheel hub from an axle may increase the risk of a crash.
The fix
Navistar will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace any missing axle bearing retainer nut lock snap rings, free of charge. The safety recall began on April 24, 2013. Owners may contact Navistar at 1-800-448-7825.
Navistar's recall campaign number is 13504.Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
