Recall 13V107000
Suspension › Rear › Axle › Non-powered Axle Assembly — Hitch-hiker · reported 25 Mar 2013 · 33 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Hitch-Hiker Mfg., Inc. (Hitch Hiker) is recalling certain model year 2008-2011 food concession trailers equipped with GKN brand axles. In the affected trailers, the axle may break allowing the arm, spindle, hub, wheel and tire to separate.
The risk
If the trailer is being towed and the axle breaks it may increase the risk of a crash.
The fix
Hitch-Hiker will notify owners and replace the axles. The recall began during April 2013. Owners may contact Hitch-Hiker at 1-330-542-3052.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
