Recall 13V160000 · manufacturer campaign SN606

Equipment — Terex · reported 24 Apr 2013 · 500 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Terex South Dakota, Inc. (Terex) is recalling certain model year 1998-2005 OM Aerial Devices used on utility trucks. The leveling arm at the elbow can develop fatigue cracks.

The risk

Fatigue cracks may cause the leveling arm to fail. If the arm fails while the aerial device is in use, the platform may move unexpectedly, increasing the risk of injury to the operator or those nearby.

The fix

Terex will notify owners to inspect their unit immediately and arrange repairs with Terex or dealers. Repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on May 29, 2013. Owners may contact Terex at 1-605-884-3892. Terex's recall campaign number is SN606.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
