Electrical System — Setra · reported 25 Apr 2013 · 234 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Setra Luxury Coaches (Setra) is recalling certain model year 2011 through 2013 Setra S417 TC motorcoaches manufactured between May 2009 and March 2013 and model year 2012 and 2013 S407 motorcoaches manufactured between August 2010 and March 2013. Moisture can enter the remote diagnostic electrical connections socket in the engine compartment causing corrosion in the socket.
The risk
Corrosion in the socket can lead to a short circuit, possibly resulting in a fire.
The fix
Setra will notify owners and dealers will repair the motorcoaches free of charge. The recall began on June 21, 2013. Owners may contact Setra Customer Service at 1-800-241-2947 for more information. Setra's recall campaign number is 54.18U08765A.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
