Recall 13V226000 · manufacturer campaign R13WG
Exterior Lighting › Brake Lights › Switch — Blue Bird · reported 29 May 2013 · 346 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Blue Bird is recalling certain 2014 model year Blue Bird conventional (Vision) model school buses manufactured from March 11, 2013 through April 29, 2013 and equipped with Ford propane engines. On the subject buses, the brake light switches may not have been adjusted properly.
The risk
Misadjusted brake light switches may result in one of the following occurrences: the brake lights may remain illuminated after the brake pedal has been released; the brake lights may be delayed in illumination after the brake pedal has been depressed. Either condition may increase the risk of a crash.
The fix
Blue Bird will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the adjustment of the brake light switch. Any brake light switch found not properly adjusted will be replaced. This work will be performed free of charge. The recall began on June 20, 2013. Owners may contact Blue Bird at 1-478-822-2242. Blue Bird's number for this recall is R13WG.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
