Recall 13V286000

Equipment — Renegade · reported 2 Jul 2013 · 1 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Kibbi, LLC is recalling one model year 2013 Renegade KIT28TA trailer manufactured on April 12, 2013. Due to a design change in the power awning motor assembly, the motor assembly screws may unknowingly shear.

The risk

If the motor assembly screws shear, it is possible that the awning can unfurl unexpectedly, either while the vehicle is at rest or while in transit, increasing the risk of personal injury or a vehicle crash.

The fix

Kibbi will notify the owner and Dometic staff will replace the affected motor with one of a different design. The recall began during July 2013. Owners may contact Dometic at 1-888-447-0003 for more information. Owners are being instructed not to drive their vehicle until repairs can be performed.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
