Recall 13V294000

Equipment — Tci · reported 5 Jul 2013 · 2 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Transportation Collaborative, Inc. (TCI) is recalling one model year 2010 TransTech DW6159RLSST and one model year 2012 TransTech SC159DSFP600 school buses equipped with a Ricon wheelchair lift with an optional armored pendant cable. The armored cable may be positioned such that it does not clear the wheelchair lift.

The risk

If the cable does not clear the wheel chair lift it may contact the power lug and if it does not have a nonconductive cover, or it has an improperly installed non-conductive cover, then a short circuit may occur that could result in a fire.

The fix

TCI will notify owners and Ricon will send owners a supplemental cover kit and installation instructions free of charge. This recall campaign began on July 22, 2013. Owners may contact Ricon Customer Service at 1-800-322-2884 or by e-mail at [email protected].

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Vehicles covered by this recall

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
