Recall 13V352000

Equipment — Spartan Erv · reported 12 Aug 2013 · 159 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Spartan ERV (Spartan) is recalling certain model year 2005-2012 Star Series emergency vehicles manufactured February 1, 2007, through May 31, 2013 and equipped with a hydraulic ladder rack. The pins which hold the ladder in place may back out over time.

The risk

If the pins back out the ladder and ladder rack arm assembly may collapse, increasing the risk of personal injury.

The fix

Spartan will notify owners, and will install spacers and locking nuts to prevent the pins from backing out, free of charge. The recall began on September 25, 2013. Owners may contact Spartan ERV at 1-800-867-6478, Option 2.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
