Recall 13V420000 · manufacturer campaign SN 130009
Equipment — Genie · reported 12 Sep 2013 · 3,889 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Genie Industries, Inc. (Genie) is recalling certain model year 2003-2012 TZ-34 aerial work platform trailers manufactured October 1, 2002, through July 12, 2012. In the affected trailers, the outrigger assembly may not remain stowed upright while the trailer is being transported.
The risk
If the outriggers do not remain stowed, the outriggers can strike objects in the trailers path, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Genie will notify owners, and dealers will install a new outrigger control manifold. The recall is expected to begin during November 2013. Owners may contact the Terex AWP at 1-800-536-1800. Genie's recall number is SN 130009.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
