Electrical System — Terex · reported 29 Jan 2014 · 3,000 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Terex Aerial Work Platforms (Terex Aerial) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 AL4 and RL4 light towers. Due to a missing plug, water may enter the electrical connection that controls the lighting, causing arcing inside the connection.

The risk

Loss of lighting in low light conditions could result in an increased risk of injury to those depending on the lights for jobsite safety.

The fix

Terex Aerial will notify owners and dealers will install the missing plug, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on March 26, 2014. Customers may contact Terex at 1-800-536-1800. Terex Aerial's number for this recall is 140001.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
