Recall 14V026000 · manufacturer campaign 14KWF
Power Train › Automatic Transmission — Kenworth · reported 30 Jan 2014 · 22 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain model year 2014 Kenworth T370 chassis manufactured August 5, 2013, through October 30, 2013, and equipped with Eaton hybrid automated transmissions. The software controlling the affected transmissions may improperly raise the vehicle's engine speed during downshifts without the driver's input.
The risk
The increase in engine speed may result in unintended acceleration, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
PACCAR will notify owners, and Eaton authorized service facilities will update the hybrid transmission software, free of charge. The recall began on March 11, 2014. Owners may contact PACCAR at 1-425-468-7400. Paccar's number for this recall is 14KWF.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
