Recall 14V073000 · manufacturer campaign SR14-12

Electrical System — Prevost · reported 24 Feb 2014 · 190 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Prevost Cars Inc. (Prevost) is recalling certain model year 2008-2010 X3-45 Coaches equipped with Sure Power-brand DC to DC converters containing a particular epoxy sealing, aka 'potting', compound. The specific potting compound used in the subject products for insulation was found to be capable of conducting electricity after being exposed to heat.

The risk

Once electrically conductive, the material is capable of melting and burning, increasing the risk of a fire.

The fix

Prevost will notify owners, and dealers will replace the converters, free of charge. The recall began on April 15, 2014. Owners may contact Prevost at 1-418-883-2888. Prevost's number for this recall is SR14-12.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
