Recall 14V088000 · manufacturer campaign SC0376
Engine And Engine Cooling › Exhaust System — Mack · reported 21 Feb 2014 · 958 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain model year 2010-2015 LEU vehicles manufactured May 14, 2009, through February 14, 2014, and equipped with a Cummins ISL engine. In the affected vehicles, the exhaust pipe may disconnect from the muffler/catalyst.
The risk
If the exhaust pipe separates from the muffler on a twin-steer configured vehicle where the vehicle is operated from the right side, the operator may be exposed to carbon monoxide levels which may cause personal injury.
The fix
Mack will notify owners. The recall began on April 21, 2014. The recall is expected to begin in late April 2014. Owners may contact Mack Trucks at 1-336-393-2000. Mack's number for this recall is SC0376.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
