Fuel System, Other › Storage › Tank Assembly — Nabi · reported 25 Mar 2014 · 241 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
NABI Bus, LLC (NABI) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 40LFW transit buses manufactured October 5, 2012, through March 17, 2014, 2013 35LFW transit buses manufactured October 21, 2013, through January 14, 2014, and 2013 31LFW transit buses manufactured February 10, 2013, through October 19, 2013, and equipped with compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel systems. In the subject vehicles, a bolt on the latch assembly that holds the CNG top covers closed may come into contact with the CNG fuel cylinder.
The risk
Bolt contact with the CNG cylinder may damage the CNG fuel cylinder, potentially causing a fuel leak, increasing the risk of a fire.
The fix
NABI Bus, LLC will notify owners, and dealers will eliminate the possible interference, free of charge. The recall began in May 2014. Owners may contact NABI Bus at 1-256-831-4296. NABI's number for this recall is 20142.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
