Recall 14V200000 · manufacturer campaign M-1407

Steering › Column — Autocar · reported 23 Apr 2014 · 207 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Autocar Industries, LLC (Autocar) is recalling certain model year 2012-2014 Xpert vehicles manufactured July 11, 2011, through March 5, 2014. The bolts that secure the steering column mounting bracket could be below the required torque and possibly cause the steering column to come loose.

The risk

A loose steering column may make it difficult to steer the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

Autocar will notify owners, and dealers will correct the steering column mounting, free of charge. The recall began in June 2014. Owners may contact Autocar's customer service at 1-765-489-5499. Autocar's number for this recall is M-1407.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
