Recall 14V268000
Suspension — Stoughton · reported 21 May 2014 · 879 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Stoughton Trailers, LLC (Stoughton) is recalling certain 2014 AVW trailers manufactured October 22, 2013, through December 18, 2013, AVXW trailers manufactured December 3, 2013, through December 16, 2013, ZGPVW trailers manufactured October 17, 2013, through December 17, 2013, and AHV trailers manufactured November 5, 2013, through November 21, 2013, and equipped with certain SAF-Holland-brand CBX Trailer Suspension Air Ride Axle Systems. The affected trailer suspensions have pivot bolts that may fail.
The risk
Failure of the pivot bolts may cause the suspension and attached axle to separate from the trailer, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Stoughton will notify owners, and SAF-Holland-approved repair shops will replace the defective pivot bolts with new pivot bolts, free of charge. The recall began on July 22, 2014. Owners may contact Stoughton customer service at 1-608-873-2555, or SAF-Holland customer service at 1-888-396-6501.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
