Recall 14V370000 · manufacturer campaign 413
Exterior Lighting › Headlights — Mci · reported 9 Jun 2014 · 686 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Motor Coach Industries, Inc. (MCI) is recalling certain model year 2014 D4000, D4005, D4000ISTV, D4500, D4505, and J4500 motor coaches manufactured July 2013 to April 2014. The multiplex electrical systems controller may unintentionally turn off the vehicle's headlights while the vehicle is in gear.
The risk
If the headlights turn off while the vehicle is in operation, the driver's visibility may be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
MCI will notify owners, and dealers will update the multiplex controller software, free of charge. The recall began in July 2014. Owners may contact MCI customer service at 1-800-241-2947. MCI's number for this recall is 413.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
