Recall 14V397000 · manufacturer campaign M-1408
Structure › Frame And Members — Autocar · reported 2 Jul 2014 · 287 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Autocar Industries, LLC (Autocar) is recalling certain model year 2012-2015 Xpert trucks manufactured November 30, 2011, to November 5, 2014 and having a 164-inch wheelbase and a sweeper body which is mounted with a gap between the cab and the body (where optional equipment could be installed). When being driven at speeds above 25mph, the affected vehicles may have an unexpected bounce.
The risk
The unexpected bounce may cause the operator to lose control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
The remedy for this recall is still under development. An interim notice was mailed to owners in August 2014. The recall began on November 20, 2014. Owners may contact Autocar customer service at 1-765-489-5499. Autocar's number for this recall is M-1408.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
