Fuel System, Other › Storage › Tank Assembly › Pressure Relief Devices — Nabi · reported 26 Aug 2014 · 370 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

NABI Bus, LLC (NABI) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 31LFW transit buses manufactured February 10, 2013, to March 10, 2014, and 2012-2014 40LFW transit buses manufactured October 5, 2012, to June 2, 2014, and equipped with Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fuel systems manufactured by Agility Fuel Systems. The tanks for the CNG fuel system may be abraded by Pressure Relief Devices (PRDs) mounted adjacent to the tanks.

The risk

Contact between the PRD and the tank may result in a CNG leak, increasing the risk of a fire.

The fix

NABI will notify owners, and dealers will install a temporary flexible cover over the PRD. A permanent improvement is still under development by Agility. Owners will receive a second notification when the permanent remedy becomes available. The recall is expected to begin in September 2014. Owners may contact NABI customer service at 1-256-241-1298. NABI's number for this recall is 20145.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
