Recall 14V659000 · manufacturer campaign FL-670
Power Train › Clutch Assembly — Freightliner · reported 21 Oct 2014 · 391 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain model year 2015 Freightliner Business Class M2 trucks manufactured May 27, 2014, to September 25, 2014, and equipped with certain models of Eaton Fuller 365mm clutches. Due to an incorrect clutch-release bearing component, the affected clutches may not disengage as needed.
The risk
The loss of clutch function could cause unintended motion or extend stopping distance, increasing the risk of vehicle crash.
The fix
DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the clutches, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on December 8, 2014. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-745-8000. DTNA's number for this recall is FL-670.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
