Recall 15V070000 · manufacturer campaign CSN 610
Equipment — Altec · reported 6 Feb 2015 · 724 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Altec Industries Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain model year 2005-2013 Altec Crane Telescopic Jib's manufactured March 1, 2005, to August 30, 2013. There may be un-impeded movement of the telescopic jib if the limiting pin is not inserted in the correct position.
The risk
The un-impeded movement of the jib may increase the risk of injury to the operator or those nearby.
The fix
Altec will notify owners, and dealers will install a retrofit kit that will aid the operator in the proper placement of the pin, free of charge. The recall began on March 10, 2015. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN 610.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
