Recall 15V119000 · manufacturer campaign SR15-03

Equipment — Prevost · reported 2 Mar 2015 · 291 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Prevost Cars, Inc. (Prevost) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Prevost XLII-45, X3-45, X3-45 VIP, H3-41, H3-45, and H3-45 VIP motorcoaches manufactured July 23, 2013, to November 28, 2014, and equipped with certain Kidde plastic valve disposable handheld fire extinguishers. These fire extinguishers may not fully discharge as designed when the lever is pressed.

The risk

In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not work correctly, there is an increased risk of injury to the bus occupants.

The fix

Prevost will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the fire extinguisher if necessary, free of charge. The recall began March 27, 2015. Owners may contact Prevost customer service at 1-877-773-8678. Prevost's number for this recall is SR15-03.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
