Recall 15V150000 · manufacturer campaign CSN 614

Equipment › Mechanical — Altec · reported 16 Mar 2015 · 120 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Altec Industries Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain model year 2014 Aerial Devices manufactured April 1, 2014, to July 18, 2014, and equipped with certain SUN Hydraulics Corporation counterbalance valves. In the affected vehicles, the counterbalance valve may crack, allowing hydraulic fluid to leak, and possibly result in boom movement.

The risk

Unintended boom movement of the aerial device increases the operator's risk of injury.

The fix

Altec will notify owners, and dealers will replace the counterbalance valves, free of charge. The recall began on May 12, 2015. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN 614.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
