Recall 15V161000

Equipment › Mechanical › Wrecker And Wheel Lift Devices — Jerr-dan · reported 20 Mar 2015 · 50 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Jerr-Dan Corporation (Jerr-Dan) is recalling certain model year 2010 Standard Duty MPL-NGS, MPL-NG and MPL40 Wreckers manufactured August 3, 2010, through September 30, 2010. In the affected vehicles, the underlift boom tilt cylinder may drift down while a vehicle is being towed.

The risk

If the underlift boom tilt cylinder drifts down during towing, the vehicle that is being towed may contact the road surface, increasing the risk of the vehicle crash.

The fix

Jerr-Dan will notify owners and dealers will replace the underlift tilt circuit counterbalance valve, free of charge. The recall began on April 24, 2015. Owners may contact Jerr-Dan customer service at 1-800-926-9666. Note: This recall is an expansion of 14V-248.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
