Recall 15V211000 · manufacturer campaign 15001
Suspension › Rear › Axle › Non-powered Axle Assembly — Spartan · reported 10 Apr 2015 · 66 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Spartan Motors, Inc. (Spartan) is recalling certain model year 2015 K3 chassis manufactured February 28, 2014, to October 21, 2014. In the affected chassis, the tag axle suspension hangers may move allowing the tag axle assembly to shift off center.
The risk
If the tag axle moves off center, vehicle handling may suddenly be affected, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Spartan will notify owners, and dealers will weld the tag axle suspension hangers to the main frame, free of charge. The recall began on April 17, 2015. Owners may contact Spartan customer service at 1-517-543-6400. Spartan's number for this recall is 15001.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
