Recall 15V239000 · manufacturer campaign L-15-01

Structure › Frame And Members — Gem · reported 22 Apr 2015 · 628 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Polaris Industries, Inc. (Polaris) is recalling certain model year 2009-2010 GEM eLXD L09GVHA4X and L10GVHA4X hybrid electric vehicles manufactured November 25, 2008, to December 30, 2010. The affected vehicles have frame welds between the cab and cargo bed that may crack.

The risk

If the frame welds crack, the frame may fall and contact the pavement, stopping the vehicle suddenly and increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

Polaris will notify owners, and dealers will repair the vehicles free of charge. The recall began May 28, 2015. Owners may contact Polaris customer service at 1-888-704-5290. Polaris' recall number is L-15-01.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
