Recall 15V247000

Back Over Prevention › Camera System — Utilimaster · reported 27 Apr 2015 · 2,904 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Spartan Motors, Inc. (Spartan) is recalling certain model year 2012-2015 Utilimaster Walk-in vans and truck body vehicles manufactured January 21, 2014, to March 12, 2015. The affected vehicles are equipped with a back up camera system which may display images from the camera in reverse.

The risk

If an object or person are on the left side of the screen but are actually on the right side of the vehicle, or vice versa, there is an increased risk of a crash.

The fix

Spartan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles and replace any camera that is not displaying the correct images. The recall began on June 24, 2015. Owners may contact Spartan customer service at 1-800-582-3454.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
