Recall 15V355000 · manufacturer campaign IK3175
Trailer Hitches — Vermeer · reported 9 Jun 2015 · 64 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Vermeer Manufacturing Company (Vermeer) is recalling certain model year 2015 TLR30HD trailers manufactured April 21, 2015, to May 15, 2015, and 2015 TLR30LD trailers manufactured April 17, 2015, and May 14, 2015. The affected trailers may have an incorrectly installed safety chain.
The risk
If the trailer hitch becomes unhooked from the tow vehicle, the safety chain will not prevent the trailer from completely separating from the tow vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Vermeer will notify owners and dealers will install a field repair kit. The recall began on July 14, 2015. Owners may contact Vermeer customer service at 1-800-829-0051 or by email at [email protected]. Vermeer's number for this campaign is IK3175.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
