Fuel System, Other › Fuel Injection System — Starcraft Bus · reported 18 Aug 2015 · 30 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Starcraft All Star XL transit buses manufactured by October 17, 2012, to November 26, 2012, and 2013 Starcraft XLT transit buses manufactured October 14, 2012, to November 26, 2012. The affected vehicles are equipped with Navistar engines that have fuel injectors that may fail.

The risk

If one or more fuel injectors fail, the engine may misfire, causing a loss of performance, possibly resulting in an engine stall and increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

Forest River will notify owners, and Navistar dealers will recalibrate the engine control module (ECM) software, free of charge. The recall began on September 9, 2015. Owners may contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825 or Forest River customer service at 1-574-389-4600. Forest River's number for this recall is 05-08102015-0071.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
