Electrical System › Ignition › Module — Thomas Built Buses · reported 5 Oct 2015 · 4 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain model year 2016 Thomas Built Bus Saf-T-Liner C2 school buses manufactured August 6, 2015, to August 20, 2015, and equipped with certain Cummins ISB6.7 engines whose engine control module (ECM) may short circuit and blow a fuse resulting in the engine stalling without warning.
The risk
An engine that stalls without warning increases the risk of a crash.
The fix
DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will replace the ECM, free of charge. The recall began on October 22, 2015. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-745-8000. DTNA's number for this recall is FL-690.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
