Recall 15V647000 · manufacturer campaign 2015100004
Fuel System, Gasoline › Delivery — Mercedes-benz · reported 13 Oct 2015 · 4 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (MBUSA) is recalling certain model year 2015 S550 Hybrid vehicles manufactured May 13, 2013 to April 22, 2015. In the affected vehicles, after driving in electric mode, the fuel pump output may be insufficient to restart the gasoline engine and the vehicle will stall.
The risk
A vehicle stall increases the risk of a crash.
The fix
MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will update the fuel system control unit software, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in November 2015. Owners may contact Mercedes-Benz customer service at 1-800-367-6372.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
