Recall 15V670000 · manufacturer campaign 15024
Equipment › Other › Labels — Utilimaster · reported 19 Oct 2015 · 406 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Spartan Motors USA (Spartan) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Utilimaster Vans manufactured July 11, 2014, to September 22, 2015. The affected vehicles may be equipped with a Tire placard that indicates the wrong cargo capacity information. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
The risk
An incorrect label may result in the vehicle being overloaded which can cause tire failure and increase the risk of a crash.
The fix
Utilimaster will notify owners and will send a label with the cargo capacity information corrected, free of charge. The recall began on December 17, 2015. Owners may contact Utilimaster customer service at 1-800-582-3454. Spartan's number for this recall is 15024.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
