Recall 15V685000 · manufacturer campaign 9901265
Equipment › Other › Labels — Jayco Fifth Wheel · reported 21 Oct 2015 · 724 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain model year 2016 Eagle Half Ton (HT) fifth wheel trailers manufactured May 19, 2015, to October 8, 2015. The affected vehicles do not have warning labels on the towing hitch to identify the maximum gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) for towing, maximum tongue weight and towing vehicle braking information.
The risk
A vehicle operator could unknowingly overload the trailer, which may result in tire or axle failure and increase the risk of a crash.
The fix
Jayco will notify owners, and dealers will apply the proper warning label, free of charge. The recall began on December 2, 2015. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco's number for this recall is 9901265.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
