Electrical System › Wiring — Thomas Built Buses · reported 13 Nov 2015 · 27 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain model year 2016 Minotour DRW school buses manufactured February 2, 2015, to June 11, 2015. During relocation of the alternator, the wiring harness may have been rerouted incorrectly resulting in the power cable being strained. As a result, the power cable may become loose at the alternator terminal.

The risk

A loose power cable to alternator terminal nut may result in an electrical arc, increasing the risk of a fire.

The fix

DTNA will notify owners, Repairs will be performed by Daimler Trucks North America authorized service facilities. All affected vehicles have been repaired as of January 20, 2016. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-745-8000. DTNA's number for this recall is FL-694.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
