Recall 15V863000
Suspension › Rear › Axle › Non-powered Axle Assembly — Kaufman · reported 22 Dec 2015 · 55 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Kaufman Trailers (Kaufman) is recalling certain model year 2016 Flatbed and Wedge Car Hauler trailers manufactured September 11, 2015, to October 14, 2015, equipped with certain 10,000 lb dual wheel axle assemblies. The affected trailers were manufactured with mismatched axle hub and cone assemblies that may cause leaking bearing oil seals, thus resulting in wheel bearing failure.
The risk
Premature bearing failure may increase the risk of a crash.
The fix
Kaufman has notified owners, and dealers will replace the affected axle assemblies, free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2016. Owners may contact Kaufman customer service at 1-336-790-6817.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
