Recall 15V866000

Structure — Itasca, Winnebago · reported 22 Dec 2015 · 1,253 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Winnebago Industries, Inc. (Winnebago) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Winnebago Sightseer, Vista, and Adventurer motorhomes manufactured August 1, 2014 through August 31, 2015, and 2015-2016 Itasca Sunova, Sunstar, and Suncruiser motorhomes manufactured August 1, 2014, through August 31, 2015. The affected vehicles have electrically operated entry/exit steps that may extend down and out while the vehicle is moving.

The risk

If the steps extend while the vehicle is being driven, the steps may strike a person or another vehicle, increasing the risk of injury or a crash.

The fix

Winnebago will notify owners, and dealers will replace the step switch connections at no charge. The recall began on February 12, 2016. Owners may contact Winnebago customer service at 1-641-585-3535.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
