Recall 16V158000 · manufacturer campaign 9901291
Suspension › Rear › Axle › Non-powered Axle Assembly — Jayco Travel Trailer · reported 17 Mar 2016 · 10 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain model year 2016 White Hawk travel trailers, model 25BHS, manufactured on March 3, 2016. The affected trailers were incorrectly built on axles rated for 3000 lbs., when they should have been built with axles that have a capacity of 3500 lbs.
The risk
If the trailer is loaded to the capacity listed on the label, trailer handling may be affected, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
All of the affected trailers have been quarantined at Jayco dealers prior to their sale and thus no owner notification letters will be sent. Dealers will install the correct axles, free of charge. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco's number for this recall is 9901291.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
