Recall 16V177000 · manufacturer campaign SN638

Structure — Terex · reported 29 Mar 2016 · 2,153 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Terex South Dakota (Terex) is recalling certain model year 2011-2016 HR, HRX, TC, TCX, and SML aerial devices. The affected aerial devices may have inadequate welds at the boom tip leveling sprockets. A failure of these welds may result in the platform tilting unexpectedly.

The risk

If the platform tilts unexpectedly, the user may fall, increasing their risk of injury.

The fix

Terex will notify owners. Terex will notify owners and provide a leveling sprocket for any unit with a cracked weld on the leveling sprocket or provide a reinforcement kit for any unit without a cracked weld on the leveling sprocket, free of charge. The recall began on May 24, 2016. Owners may contact Terex South Dakota at 1-800-982-8975. Terex's number for this recall is SN638.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
