Recall 16V208000 · manufacturer campaign FL-707
Steering — Fccc · reported 12 Apr 2016 · 822 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 FCCC XBS, XCL, XCS, XCR and XCM motorhome chassis manufactured from March 10, 2015, through January 14, 2016 and equipped with Detroit front axles. The front sway bar mounting brackets may not fit properly on the axle causing the mounting bolts to bend or loosen.
The risk
If the sway bar bolts loosen, the sway bar may detach from the axle, affecting the handling and increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will modify the mounting of the sway bar, free of charge. The recall began on June 9, 2016. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is FL-707.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
