Recall 16V212000

Structure — Strick · reported 13 Apr 2016 · 460 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Strick Trailers, LLC (Strick) is recalling certain model year 2004 Single axle 28 foot van trailers, model S4280E99NFOWW, manufactured August 1, 2003, to October 31, 2003 and equipped with rear impact guards using gussets 52236 and 52237. These rear impact guard gussets could increase the chances of injury in the event of a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 223, "Rear Impact Guards."

The risk

If the rear impact guards do not meet the safety standards, it could increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

The fix

Strick will notify owners, and service centers will install reinforcements to the rear impact guards, free of charge. The recall began on June 2, 2016. Owners may contact Strick customer service at 1-260-692-1300.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
