Recall 16V276000 · manufacturer campaign TB2016001 - IMT dist
Equipment — Elpers · reported 10 May 2016 · 35 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Elpers Truck Equipment (Elpers) is recalling certain model year 2013-2016 Peterbilt 337, International 4300, 4400, Maxforce, Dodge 5500, and Ford F-450, and F-550 trucks manufactured April 4, 2013, to January 22, 2016 and equipped with IMT cranes, models 6000, 7500, 8600, 9500, 10000, 12000, and 14000. The affected cranes have a valve bank cover that may crack and fall from the crane while the crane is being transported.
The risk
If the valve bank cover detaches from the crane it could be a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Elpers will notify owners, and dealers will replace the valve bank cover, with a thicker gauge cover, free of charge. The recall began on May 25, 2016. Owners may contact Elpers' customer service at 1-877-244-4596. Elpers' number for this recall is TB2016001 - IMT dist.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
