Recall 16V281000 · manufacturer campaign 16E-037

Seats — Turtle Top · reported 10 May 2016 · 6 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Turtle Top is recalling certain model year 2016 Odyssey transit buses manufactured December 17, 2015, to March 29, 2016. These vehicles are equipped with seats that may separate from the base frame due to bolt failure. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 222, "School Bus Passenger Seating and Crash Protection", and 213, "Child Restraint Systems."

The risk

In the event of a crash, the seat can separate from the base frame, increasing the risk of injury to the seat occupant.

The fix

Turtle Top will notify owners, and dealers will replace the seats, free of charge. The recall began on June 22, 2016. Owners may contact Turtle Top customer service at 1-574-831-4340. Turtle Top's number for this recall is 16E-037.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
