Recall 16V307000 · manufacturer campaign CSN 633

Equipment — Altec · reported 16 May 2016 · 63 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Altec Industries Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 DL and DM Digger Derricks manufactured October 1, 2014, to April 30, 2016 with the digger booms mounted in the corner. The rotation bearing fasteners on the affected vehicles may not have been properly torqued.

The risk

If the fasteners are loose or improperly torqued, structural failure may result, causing unexpected movement of the digger derrick and increasing the risk of injury.

The fix

Altec has notified owners, and instruct them to perform the annual torque inspection, free of charge. The recall began June 2, 2016. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN 633.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
