Recall 16V319000 · manufacturer campaign MDTT-1601
Suspension › Rear › Axle › Spindle — Autocar · reported 18 May 2016 · 43 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Autocar Industries, LLC (Autocar) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Auto Xspotter and 2017 Autocar Xpert vehicles manufactured March 04, 2016, through April 21, 2016. The tab lock washers on the rear axle wheel ends may not have been properly bent over the outer spindle nut during assembly.
The risk
If the spindle nuts loosen, the wheel assembly may separate from the rear axle, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Autocar will notify owners and dealers will inspect the tab lock washers and remedy tabs where needed, free of charge. The recall began on June 30, 2016. Owners may contact Autocar's customer service at 1-765-489-5499. Autocar's number for this recall is MDTT-1601.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
