Recall 16V452000
Seats — Ic Bus · reported 21 Jun 2016 · 5 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain model year 2016 IC Bus RE school buses manufactured January 25, 2016, to March 31, 2016, equipped with Freedman-brand passenger seats with integrated child seats (ICS). These seats may separate from the base frame due to bolt failure. As, such these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 222, "School Bus Passenger Seating and Crash Protection."
The risk
In the event of a crash, the seat can separate from the base frame, increasing the risk of injury to the seat occupant.
The fix
Navistar has already completed the repair work on the affected vehicles, free of charge to owners. Owner notifications will not be sent. Owners may contact Navistar customer service at 1-331-332-1590.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
